Taps, isolating valves and stop taps
Taps, valves and stop taps
Taps that won't turn off, valves that leak and stop taps that won't turn, replaced so you can always turn the water off.

A tap that won't turn off
Can it wait?Call now. This one won't wait, so we'll come straight out.
- Look for the isolating valve on the pipe under the tap and turn its slot a quarter, across the pipe.
- If there isn't one, turn off the water at your stop tap.
- Don't force the tap: a worn one can come apart in your hand.
If neither the valve nor the stop tap will turn, call now.

Questions
How often should I test my stop tap?
Every few months, turn it off and back on so it doesn't seize. If it's stiff, don't force it: we can replace it in about an hour.
