No water, or hardly any

No water and low pressure

Frozen pipes thawed, failed stop taps replaced and low pressure traced, once we've checked it isn't the supply.

If it's happening now

No water, or hardly any

Can it wait?Call now. This one won't wait, so we'll come straight out.

  1. Ask a neighbour. If they've no water either, it's the supply, not your pipes: your water company's number is below.
  2. If it's only you, check your stop tap is fully open, turned anticlockwise as far as it goes.
  3. In freezing weather a pipe in a loft, garage or outside wall may be frozen. Warm it gently with a hairdryer or a hot-water bottle, never a flame, and keep the tap it feeds open.

A frozen pipe may have split. When it thaws, be ready to turn the water off.

What it costs

  • Daytime£95 to £145
  • Evenings and weekends£135 to £200
  • Overnight and bank holidays£175 to £255

Thawing a frozen pipe: 45 minutes to an hour and a half on site, parts at cost, VAT included.

Smell gas? Don't call us. Get everyone out, don't touch any switches, and ring the gas emergency line. 0800 111 999

If the street is off too, it's the water company's supply, and we'll tell you so on the phone rather than charge for a visit.

What we're called out for

  • No water from any tap
  • Water from some taps but not others
  • Pressure that's dropped and stayed low
  • No water in a hard frost

What's included

  • Checking whether it's the supply or your pipes
  • Thawing frozen pipes safely
  • Replacing a stop tap that has failed
  • Tracing a hidden leak that's stealing pressure

How it goes

  1. Check the supply

If the street is off too, it's the water company's, and we'll say so on the phone rather than send a plumber.

  2. Find it

A frozen pipe, a failed stop tap, or a leak taking the pressure.

  3. Fix it

Thawed, replaced or repaired, and the pipes lagged if they froze.

Questions

Should I keep the taps open if a pipe is frozen?

Keep the tap it feeds open, so water can move as it thaws, and turn the stop tap off if you see water anywhere it shouldn't be.
