Industrial and logistics

Power, distribution and lighting for warehouses and production that cannot stop for us.

How we work here

A new grey low-voltage switchboard along a plant room wall, cables dropping into it from trays overhead and a rubber safety mat in front.

What's different here

  • The site keeps running, with exclusion zones, banksmen and vehicle routes agreed daily
  • Work at height from MEWPs, with IPAF-trained operatives and rescue plans
  • Shutdowns of production or automated lines planned weeks ahead with the client's engineers

What we typically do

  • New LV distribution and sub-mains for plant and automation
  • Cable ladder, tray and busbar trunking along steelwork
  • High-bay LED lighting with presence and daylight control
  • Thermographic surveys and fixed wire testing on a three-year cycle

What we plan for on an industrial site

  1. Shutdown planningShutdowns are planned weeks ahead with your engineers, shift by shift, and everything that can be done beforehand is done beforehand, so the window is used only for what needs it.
  2. Isolation and lock-offEvery isolation is under a permit to work, with lock-off and tags, proved dead and recorded, and agreed each shift with your engineering team.
  3. Working at heightIPAF-trained operatives on MEWPs inside agreed exclusion zones, with rescue plans, banksmen and vehicle routes agreed each morning.
  4. Production continuityNew supplies are built alongside the old, so the changeover is a short planned event rather than a long outage.
  5. Three-phase distributionLV switchboards, sub-mains and busbar sized for today's load and what you plan to add, with discrimination checked on paper before anything is installed.
  6. Machinery suppliesDedicated supplies, isolators and emergency stops for plant and automation, coordinated with the machine builder or integrator.
  7. Thermographic surveysA thermal baseline of new switchgear under load after commissioning, and surveys on a cycle to catch hot joints before they fail.
  8. Shutdown windowsChristmas, Easter and summer shutdowns are booked months ahead, and our labour is committed to them before anything else.

Questions clients in this sector ask

Can you work while the site is running?

Yes. Almost all of our industrial work happens on live sites, with exclusion zones, permits and daily coordination with the shift manager.

Do you build switchboards off site?

We have switchboards built and tested off site wherever a shutdown is short, so installation is a changeover rather than a build.

Can you survey our existing distribution first?

Yes. A survey of the existing boards, loads and protection is usually the first step, and it is priced on its own.
