Charger not working?
Help with a charger that's stopped
Most problems are fixed in five minutes without a visit. Here's what to check first, and how to book a repair if it isn't.
What's it doing?
Choose the closest. Most of these take five minutes and need no visit.
The app says it's offline
- Check your Wi-Fi router is on and the charger is in range. A new router means the charger needs connecting to it again.
- Turn the charger off at its isolator for thirty seconds, then back on.
- Open the app and follow its steps to reconnect. The charger still charges while it's offline, on its last schedule.
The car is plugged in but won't charge
- Check the schedule in the app and in the car. Two schedules that don't overlap stop each other.
- Unplug at both ends, lock and unlock the car, then plug in again.
- Check the car isn't set to a charge limit it has already reached.
Its breaker or the RCD keeps tripping
- Turn the charger off at its isolator before you touch anything at the board.
- Reset the breaker once. If it trips again straight away, leave it off and book a visit.
- Don't keep resetting it. A trip that repeats is telling us something.
The cable, plug or case is damaged
- Stop using it, and turn it off at its isolator.
- Take a photo of the damage, and send it with your booking.
- We'll bring a replacement cable or unit where we can tell from your photo.
Questions
After it's fitted
What's guaranteed?
Our workmanship for three years, and the charger under its manufacturer's warranty. If something goes wrong, call us first and we'll sort out which.
Does the charger need servicing?
Not like a boiler, but a yearly check of the cable, the connections and the protection is worth doing, especially outdoors. We'll remind you.
We're moving house. Can it come with us?
It can, but it usually adds value to the house you're selling. We can fit another at the new one.
